Off the Air – Oh No!
by George MacKnight
Professional Broadcast Engineer
It happens to the best of us. A transmitter or antenna part breaks, it is hard to obtain a replacement,
and so no signals are transmitted for a period of time. Sad for us, but a disaster for a TV station!
George MacKnight joins us to tell the technical story of the 2 1/2 day outage of WPTO in July. He will
also discuss general maintenance of the powerful transmitters and tall towers that he deals with on a
daily basis for Think TV channels 14 and 16.
Note - "Show Us Your Shack" has been re-scheduled for
Jan. 8, 2018. See below.

Show Us Your Shack
facilitated by Dave Core, K8WDA
up to three pictures of your Ham Shack by
Nov. 30, 2017. We'll compile them to show at the club meeting. It doesn't matter if your shack is
small and cozy or large and roomy, neat as a pin or everything where only you can find it. Those
participating may provide captions for their pictures and/or comment on their photos when presented
at the meeting.
There is no need to be a
of the club, or even an Amateur Radio operator to attend our meetings.
Everyone is welcome!
If you have a topic or presentation
that you would like to see at an upcoming meeting or a program that you would like to share with the club, please let
